In New South Wales, accredited pharmacists may administer flu vaccinations for people aged 10 years and older. We advise receiving the flu vaccination from April to help minimise your chances of contracting influenza.
Whooping Cough Immunisation
Whooping cough or pertussis is a contagious bacterial infection that affects babies, children and adults. This disease is spread via respiratory droplets when an infected person sneezes or coughs. At North Haven Pharmacy, we offer whooping cough vaccination for people aged 16 years and older. Whooping cough symptoms present themselves as similar to a cold that progresses into cough with a distinctive ‘whoop’ sound when you breathe in. Symptoms may include:
Under the NIP, all pregnant women are eligible to receive free whooping cough immunisation. If you’ve been vaccinated as a child, you are not necessarily protected as an adult. Our pharmacists provide whooping cough booster shots to help prevent contracting the infection. Call us at North Haven Pharmacy today to book a whooping cough vaccination.
Measles, mumps & rubella immunisation
At North Haven Pharmacy, we provide a measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) combination vaccination to people aged 16 years and older. If your child is under 19 years old, they are eligible to receive free MMR combination vaccination. Similar to influenza and whooping cough, these three contagious viral infections are all spread via respiratory droplets when an infected person sneezes or coughs.
MMR vaccinations are provided in two doses at least four weeks apart. It’s safe to have been administered the vaccine more than twice. If you’re unsure whether you were vaccinated as a child, our pharmacists can offer you the MMR vaccination.
Getting vaccinated is our best chance of controlling the spread of infectious diseases. You may be eligible to receive free vaccinations under the National Immunisation Program. To find out more about what vaccinations we offer, contact us at North Haven Pharmacy today.
